Community Health Centers are a central and necessary part of communities. These Health Centers provide a safety net for medically underserved populations, and they combat barriers within the system such as financial, geographic, language, and cultural barriers. There are only 4 different Community Health Centers in a city with a population of more than 350,000 people.​​ The Health Centers are not receiving the funding that they need to keep offering their wide range of services. There is a real need for a funding increase for Community Health Centers in New Orleans. We, the New Orleans Community, are asking the City Council for an increase in state funding for New Orleans' Federally Qualified Community Health Centers.
