Save the Seals, Save the Sea: Keep HBSRC Open

As a first responder in Yzerfontein and PR & Marketing Spokesperson for the Hout Bay Seal Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre (HBSRC), I've witnessed firsthand the impact of human carelessness and environmental disasters on our marine friends. HBSRC, a vital non-profit organization, operates under the authority of a Tops Permit from the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE). Our centre is the only facility of its kind in the Western Cape, South Africa, dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing Cape Fur seals.

The harsh reality is that hundreds of Cape Fur seals are affected by human activities, pollution, and climate change every year. Without HBSRC, these magnificent creatures would be left to suffer, and our oceans would suffer too. Our centre not only provides medical care and rehabilitation but also plays a critical role in marine conservation, research, and education.

If HBSRC closes its doors, the consequences will be far-reaching. The seals will be left without a safe haven, and the impact on marine biodiversity will be severe. The closure will also undermine efforts to protect our oceans, promote sustainable fishing practices, and inspire a new generation of marine conservationists.

Now is the time to act. With HBSRC facing imminent closure due to financial constraints, every day counts. We must come together to secure funding and resources to keep this vital centre open. By signing this petition, you'll be joining a global movement to protect marine life, promote conservation, and preserve the integrity of our oceans.

By supporting HBSRC, you'll be:

1. Saving Cape Fur seals from suffering and death

2. Contributing to marine conservation and research efforts

3. Inspiring a new generation of marine conservationists

4. Preserving the integrity of our oceans and promoting sustainable practices

Let's act now to save HBSRC and the seals that depend on it. Sign and share this petition today!
