Kanoa and his family have lived in Hawaii for many generations. His Hawaiian ancestry traces very far back. He has watched his friends and family members move away due to high living costs. Witnessing his friends and family loose homes due to the lack of good-paying jobs. Hawaii's cost of living is extremely high compared to most places on the mainland. The inflated housing market has made life difficult on locals who lived here for generations. The new developments force housing prices and living costs to rapidly increase while local's wages stay stagnate. Anyone who lives in Hawaii knows this is a big problem. Dubbed "The Housing Crisis by Legislature". The Film Industry creates jobs that pay a decent wage allowing locals like Kanoa to buy land back for his family.

The tax credit cap threatens this fragile industry. "The Film Tax Credit Cap" is a limited dollar amount in which the state allows the film Industry to receive credit back for money spent on production in Hawaii. The CAP amount is currently too low and many large productions are going elsewhere to film. This is hurting thousands of local jobs and businesses. Lawmakers may think they are helping the economy by having these large productions companies pay more in taxes, however, the fact of the matter is they just go elsewhere to film. This leaves thousands of workers without jobs. Hawaii's economy misses out on hundreds of millions of dollars when they leave. We are losing many films to Australia due to the fact they have absolutely NO CAP same goes for many of our neighboring islands. We need this work to stay here for the good of the local residents and the local economy. #SaveHawaiiFilm
