The tax credit cap is a limited dollar amount in which the state allows the film Industry to receive credit back for money spent on production in Hawaii. The CAP amount is currently too low and many large productions are going elsewhere to film. This is hurting thousands of local jobs and businesses. Lawmakers may think they are helping the economy by having these large productions companies pay more in taxes, however, the fact of the matter is they just go elsewhere to film. This leaves thousands of workers without jobs. Hawaii's economy misses out on hundreds of millions of dollars when they leave. We are losing many films to Australia due to the fact they have absolutely NO CAP.
