Save Harriet and Caleb from slaughter

The Issue

Hidden away in the serene environs of Brockenhurst lies a heartbreaking story that demands our urgent attention. Two pigs, Harriet and Caleb, a loving brother and sister duo, are currently the beloved mascots of The Pig Hotel. They have captured the hearts of countless visitors with their charm and playful nature. Yet, beneath this facade, a grim fate awaits them—they are slated for slaughter come February 2026.

The Pig Hotel has branded Harriet and Caleb as more than just animals; they have become symbols of joy and warmth for many. It seems unjust and cruel that these affectionate creatures, who have become staples of the hotel experience, should face such an untimely demise.

Pigs are incredibly intelligent creatures, known for their cognitive abilities on par with those of dogs. They feel joy, love, fear, and pain, much like our household pets. Subjecting them to slaughter not only takes away two cherished lives but also sends a disturbing message about how animals we interact with daily are dispensable.

Agriculture and tourism do not necessarily have to be at odds. Animals can serve educational and engagement purposes without meeting an end in abattoirs. By sparing Harriet and Caleb, The Pig Hotel has an opportunity to take a stand for compassion and showcase a more humane vision for economically integrated animal tourism.

Let us urge The Pig Hotel to reconsider their plans and allow Harriet and Caleb to live out their lives peacefully at the property or within a sanctuary that will ensure their safety. Every voice matters in this heartfelt plea.

Please join us in this campaign to save Harriet and Caleb by signing this petition. Let's make sure that these beloved mascots have the future they deserve.
