SAVE HARBOR ANIMAL SHELTER

SAVE HARBOR ANIMAL SHELTER
The Issue
We , the undersigned, call on the city of Los Angeles and Mayor Karen Bass to keep the Harbor Animal Shelter FULLY funded and operational.
Harbor Animal Shelter serves as a vital resource for residents and animals across a large part of harbor area. It provides essential services such as pet adoptions, lost pet recovery, stray animal intake and emergency animal response.
In the U.S alone, about 6.5 million companion animals enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year. Half of those animals will not have the chance to find a home, leading to approximately 1.5 million shelter animals being euthanized yearly. However, thanks to animal shelters and rescue groups, more than 3.2 million shelter animals are adopted each year.
Closing Harbor Animal Shelter will reduce chances of adoption and increase the risk of euthanasia. Residents will lose access to services for lost, injured or abandoned pets. Rescue organizations and volunteers will be overwhelmed and city services will be stretched even thinner.
We urge city leaders, the Budget and Finance Committee and the Mayor to reconsider budget cuts and KEEP Harbor Animal Shelter OPEN!!!
Sign this petition to join me in this cause and ensure animal shelters remain in operation.
