The Issue
Realtors of Huntsville Area Association of Realtors®(HAAR), demand the removal of CEO [Redacted], ValleyMLS.com Chair Zelda Friedman, President Lore Hislop, and ValleyMLS.com Co-Chair/2023 Past President [Redacted].
Petitioners demand the immediate suspension of the CEO, [Redacted], while the HAAR board of directors considers his removal.
Petitioners demand the immediate impeachment and removal of ValleyMLS.com Chair, Zelda Friedman. Zelda Friedman failed to recuse herself from interviews of members who were contending for the same position she would be running for; This has compromised the integrity of the election process.
Petitioners demand immediate impeachment and removal of President, Lore Hislop. Lore Hislop delegated her power and responsibility as President to the CEO and others and failed to uphold our strategic plan in every decision made. It is the President’s responsibility to hear and respond to member concerns, and she has not heard or responded to the concerns brought to her by members.
Petitioners demand the immediate impeachment and removal of ValleyMLS.com co-chair, [Redacted], for violating Roberts Rules of Order, latest edition, by precluding debate on items on the agenda of board meetings.
The volunteers that are removed are not eligible for future board or leadership positions.
Supporting Concerns:
a. An increasing number of members have raised concerns regarding the general direction of HAAR and ValleyMLS.com. These concerns have not been heard or addressed. Consequently, an alarming number of members, up to 1/3 of our last known total membership, have expressed the desire to leave HAAR in favor of another local association. Some subscribers have expressed desire to pursue other MLS opportunities outside of ValleyMLS.com, which could effectively split the data that we all rely on into multiple platforms.
b. Since the hire of the CEO, staff turnover has been at the highest level that has ever been seen within one year in the history of the organizations. Those who are no longer employed by HAAR and ValleyMLS.com are: Keisha Tibbs, Tedesa Handley, Julie Klein, Katy Fitzgerald, Abby Kate Hancock, Zanetta Harmon, Gavin Deason, Whitney Holman, and Christina Hearne, with the potential for more turnover. Our organizations have already lost well over 40 years of experience in the organization.
c. Concerns have been expressed around the integrity of the ongoing election process to include the handling of selection of candidates for the ballot. There has been alleged unfair treatment to applicants for various positions on the officer and director line, despite these candidates being fully qualified for such positions based on the criteria developed in 2022. This can be found in the Bylaws Policy Addenda dated 7/2/2024.
d. There have been concerns from members at large, committee members & board members regarding a lack of transparency around membership records, historical and current financial records.
e. Board members have requested that their concerns be added to agendas for board meetings and those requests have been either ignored or denied. If there is no apparent process for adding member concerns to the agenda, the board members are being put in jeopardy of not being capable of fulfilling their fiduciary obligations to their members. Additionally, any concerns that are discussed are not being noted in the minutes. If true, this lack of protocol could be harmful to HAAR and ValleyMLS.com. HAAR and ValleyMLS.com both utilize Roberts Rules of Order, latest edition, to conduct business meetings.
f. The strategic plan that outlines the goals and aspirations of the organizations has not been considered or even discussed in any decision that has been made, however minor or significant nature of that decision. This can be found in the HAAR & ValleyMLS.com strategic plan dated 2022.
