The Issue
Gladesboro Elementary School is more than just a school. It is the heart of our community, a place where generations of children have learned, grown, and created lifelong memories.
The Carroll County School Board is considering closing Gladesboro Elementary School, with a vote expected in early 2027. One of the concerns raised involves a reported crack in the school building.
But should a school that means so much to our community be permanently closed without thoroughly exploring every possible solution?
We believe the answer is NO.
We understand that the safety of our children, teachers, and staff must always come first. However, we believe that repairs, renovations, independent structural evaluations, and alternative funding options should all be considered before making a decision that could permanently impact our community.
Closing Gladesboro Elementary School would mean more than shutting the doors of a building. It could mean longer bus rides for young children, disruptions to their education, changes in classroom sizes, and the loss of an important part of our community’s identity.
Our children deserve stability. Our parents deserve answers. Our community deserves a voice.
We are asking the Carroll County School Board to:
• Provide transparency regarding the school’s structural condition and any inspection reports.
• Explore all reasonable repair and renovation options before considering closure.
• Consider the long-term effects on students, families, teachers, and the community.
• Listen to the concerns of parents and residents before making a final decision.
Keep Gladesboro Elementary School open if it can be operated safely.
