Why this petition matters

Started by Phillip Mills

Hunters Hill Council wishes to remove 37 trees and prune a further 7 in Figtree Park, a garden park of a mere 0.6 hectares, which makes an important contribution to Hunters Hill's reputation as Australia's oldest garden suburb where the Green Ban environmental movement began. Tree removals have been planned by council in order to make way for an elaborate play area and other infrastructure to attract more visitors, but with no additional parking available in already congested streets.  Residents simply want a modest play park for local young families and amenities suitable for the small area, without removing trees.  Healthy trees should be pruned and left in situ and incorporated into the final design.  Please help by signing the petition to stop Hunters Hill Council from this unnecessary development.
