SAVE EMULATION

The Issue

Hello all. The other day we of the emulation community were hit hard by a sudden lawsuit against Yuzu/Citra (The Switch and 3DS Emulators) and the creator had this to say:

Now, I do believe the creator is right and piracy is a problem, but that is a per person issue that does not condemn the entire community, and I think its obvious the creator didn't actually want to shut down the project due to the 2.4 million US dollars he was forced to pay due to "Damages" to Nintendo.

This petition is both a way to keep the project going for preservation of the future of tech, and hopefully a way for Nintendo to realize they are a shady company that only cares about money in the long run and change their ways to better its community.

No other game studio has expressed interest in taking down emulators because they recognize the value they have, also what are we to do 50 years from now when there is no more retro consoles to play said older games? As I highly doubt Nintendo would actively keep support for those games by that time. I want you all to think hard about the possibilities and positives of emulation as well as the good it can do.

If I were to offer a suggestion to Nintendo, it would be to create their own emulator for PC with a paid subscription, where it would log into an online database with all your games stored and constantly run checks back and forth to the client emulator to neutralize the possibly of cracking/piracy. Many people would be willing to pay for such a service so in all its a win-win. There is also the possibility of making older consoles (consoles that are no longer supported) open source.

Emulation is not the problem, people are. Don't stand for company corruption! We will not tolerate being punished for a problem we the common people did not make!
