Major cuts to arts coverage are being proposed at the Edmonton Journal:

• There will be no more previews of classical music events
• Reviews will be extremely limited: only classical music events that have a major celebrity performing will potentially be reviewed
• Reviews will be on the web only
• There will no longer be a full-time Arts editor

The Journal has been a major source for Edmontonians to find out about upcoming arts events and the reviews are a key component of the performance scene. The proposed cuts will have a devastating effect on the arts community. We urge the Journal to reconsider these cuts.
