SAVE EDGEWATER FROM CONSTRUCTION AND TREE REMOVALS
The Issue
Currently construction is planned and ongoing on the blocks between 16th and 21st street, including Margaret Pace Park. This impedes on our quality of life. Recently Sky Coffee was relocated which was the only outdoor space which was enjoyed by residents and incorporated trees into their design. Currently Melo Group is planning to develop the block on 18th and Biscayne which in addition to being one of the only green spaces left in Edgewater was a site for the local animals. On Tuesday morning they cut a beloved tree and need to be held accountable to replace the tree!
The Miami Citizen's Bill of Rights is currently being violated, it states:
"It shall be the policy of the City to conserve and protect its natural resources and scenic beauty, which policy shall include the abatement of air and water pollution, and excessive and unnecessary noise"
"Remedies tor violations. Residents of the City shall have standing to bring legal actions to enforce the City Charter, the Citizens' Bill of Rights, and the Miami-Dade County Citizens' Bill of Rights as applied to the City. Such actions shall be filed in Miami-Dade County Circuit Court pursuant to its general equity jurisdiction and, if successful, the plaintiff shall be entitled to recover costs, but not attorney's fees, as fixed by the court. Any public official, or employee who is found by the court to have willfully violated this section shall forthwith forfeit his or her office or employment."

When our neighborhood has turned into a construction zone and all the trees and parks are removed property values and quality of life will be degraded.
