Link to meeting here, call in at 10am 4/15!
Once again, the city council will be hosting a meeting on Zoom to discuss various issues across the city of LA. This would be a great time to call in and speak your support of Mitch O'Farrell's effort to restore Echo Park Lake and it's beautiful environment. After the events on March 25th, many activists have been calling into these meetings falsely claiming that O'Farrell didn't provide housing for the unhoused at the lake. Which couldn't be further from the truth. The unhoused are now staying at the LA Grand Hotel for the next 6 months while more permanent housing is under construction. Here's some new stats directly from O'Farrell's website:
From the outset, I also made a commitment to find transitional housing for everyone at Echo Park Lake who wanted it, no matter how they got there or where they came from. Rest assured, even with the park’s closure and reopening, this work continues unabated across the 13th District. Here are just a few new housing solutions in the Echo Park area that are online or in the pipeline:
41 rooms at The Nest, a Project Homekey shared housing site with on-site services, located on Hoover Street and operated by Volunteers of America
38 “Tiny Homes” (up to 74 total beds) currently under construction, located on Alvarado Street and expected to open in June 2021
73 potential spaces at a “Safe Sleep” pilot site, located approximately two miles from the park and proposed to open in late April 2021

So if you have the time, consider calling into the city council meeting on Thursday the 15th at 10am to voice your support for the work O'Farrell did to provide housing and begin the difficult process of restoring our lake.
Remember, YOU have the power to change your city and voice your opinion. It can be tiresome at times, but voicing your opinion directly to the city council is a direct way you can affect the entire future of Los Angeles. Don't let unhinged activists control the narrative.
This is the call in information for Thursday. Members of the public who would like to offer public comment on the items listed on the agenda should call 1 669 254 5252 and use Meeting ID No. 160 919 4459 and then press #. The picture attached to this update is a beautiful photo taken a few days ago by a Drone above Echo Park Lake amidst the current restoration project. Please help me to make sure the lake stays like this in the future and doesn't once again fall into chaos. Your support is so important to this endeavor.
More updates will be posted soon,
