Mountain Area Preservation & Save Open Space Glenshire have been working collectively to create a better vision for Canyon Springs. A proposed development in Eastern Truckee near Glenshire called Canyon Springs was never brought before the public for a review or visioning process by the local community.

The development is on 284 acres and is proposing 185 units. Currently this area features open space, recreational activities, and a migratory deer corridor. The Draft Environmental Impact report should be coming out soon, and we are asking for a public review by the Town of Truckee. 

Truckee has plenty of housing development, do we need more or are we in a housing glut?

The community should be involved in deciding what is appropriate for this space.

 

Possible impacts to our community:

-significant traffic increases & hazards

-decreased fire & evacuation safety

-increased noise, air & visual  pollution

-long-term construction noise & traffic

-negatively impacted property values

-overcrowded schools

-threatened wildlife habitat and wetlands

-increased suburban sprawl

-reduced water quality & quantity
