The petition is doing amazingly well. We have now reached over 11,500 supporters. It appears to be increasing by 1000 per day. Thank you very much for all the support. It just shows how much the gardens are loved and valued. I have been informed that the university do not actually own most of the land and it is in a trust but we need to find out for sure. This would mean the land could not actually be sold off. I hope this is the case. I have sent an email regarding our concerns to Maggie Chapman and I have also emailed the chair of the University Court to make a freedom of information request regarding the finances of the gardens. We need to know how much the gardens cost to run and what money they are making from them. I will update the petition again once I have some replies. Thank you.
