Save Dulles Elementary School!

Save Dulles Elementary School!
The Issue
We are engaged and active parents and supporters of Dulles Elementary students. We are writing to express our deep concern about the recent announcement that Dulles Elementary is being considered for closure or consolidation. We respectfully ask the Board and Committee to carefully consider the detrimental effects this decision could have on our school community and the families it serves.
Dulles Elementary has been a cornerstone of Fort Bend ISD since 1976 and remains an important part of the district’s history. As one of the first elementary schools built by FBISD, its legacy should be celebrated and protected—not erased. Beyond its historical significance, Dulles Elementary is a vital community hub supported strongly by the Sugar Creek and Riverbend North neighborhoods. The proposed zoning map would break up these neighborhoods, preventing them from being united behind a single FBISD elementary school. This fragmentation would weaken the sense of community that has been built over decades.
Additionally, Dulles Elementary is a CEP (Community Eligibility Provision) campus, which provides essential resources to families who need them most. The two schools proposed to absorb Dulles students—Highlands Elementary and Lexington Creek Elementary—are not CEP campuses. This change would detrimentally impact vulnerable families who rely on these resources. Protecting this community should be a district priority.
From a utilization standpoint, Dulles Elementary currently operates at 77%, the highest among the schools being considered for closure. Moving these students to campuses projected to reach 98% utilization will create overcrowding and likely lead to another rezoning in just a few years. This instability is not in the best interest of our Dulles Elementary students and families. Finally, all Dulles Elementary students feed into Dulles Middle and Dulles High School. Preserving this feeder pattern maintains continuity and strengthens the Dulles community as a whole. Closing Dulles Elementary would disrupt this alignment and diminish the identity of one of FBISD’s foundational schools.
We urge you to prioritize stability, equity, and community in your decision-making process. Dulles Elementary is more than a building—it is a vital part of our district’s history and a lifeline for many families. Please keep this school open and allow it to continue serving our children and neighborhoods for generations to come.
Please join us in our fight by signing this petition. Help us send a strong message to FBISD that our school is worth preserving. Your support can make a difference in securing a bright future for our children and our community.
