The company which was set up by Westminster City Council to protect the interests of tenants in Dolphin Square has come out in opposition to Westbrook's plans after remaining neutral until now.
In a statement opposing the development placed on Westminster's planning portal, Dolphin Square 2005 Limited, says that the development would be "injurious to members of the company."
There are more than 180 members of the company who enjoy "Option B" status in Dolphin Square which gives them reduced rents and security of tenure.
The directors of the company control a fighting fund of £15 million which can be used to ensure that their landlord carries out its obligations under the terms of a lease to which Dolphin Square 2005 Limited is party.
Recently a group of members called an extraordinary general meeting of the company to instruct the directors to oppose Westbrook's plans. After a secret ballot, members came out in favour of opposition.
The Option B tenants are now expected to press their company to take legal action against Westbrook to prevent the development going ahead in the event that planning permission is granted.
