Many people have used  this essential excellent local facility over many years and Kirklees Council are looking at closing it to help balance their books. I've been a member for well over 12 years.

The center is great at providing a service to improve physical and mental health and is one of the few remaining places in the center of Dewsbury that draws people into town. Where else locally is a pool of this size?

Regardless of who is to blame for the funding shortfall... why should local people pay like this with something else cut?

Where would local children go for their swimming lessons and what about people that don't drive? How will they easily get to the other KAL centers?

Dedicated staff are likely to loose their jobs too that have provided a great service over many years.

The remaining centers would not likely to have the capacity to take us all, as they would have never been designed with this in mind.

• Hopefully you all share my frustration and disappointment and by trying this route we can show our feelings .  Those that know me well, know I don't get wound up by much and have a long fuse.  This has definitely pushed my buttons. Those of you that pay your tax to kirklees need to start asking questions.

I have received an email from KAL with an invitation on for a survey...

"The consultation process will run for 6 weeks until 12/11/23, before final decisions are taken by the Council’s Cabinet in December 2023".

I'll keep this petition open to match this.

Thanks for your support so far....let's keep it going! 821 signatures so far is great progress!

I have received an email from KAL which says they want people with Dewsbury only membership to upgrade to the current standard membership package by 15th November or they will cancel the membership.  Why do that when it's still all up in the air?
