Save Dead City Haunted House
The Issue
Dead City Haunted House located at 5425 S Vine Street in Murray, Utah is devastated to announce that it will be forced to close its doors to the public until further notice due to unforeseen local regulations.
"While preparing for our milestone fifth season we received some unexpected news regarding updated regulations to operate under the newly appointed fire chief. Dead City Haunted House has always been committed to providing the safest experience for all our customers and employees, so we gladly cooperated as quickly as possible. Just as we have done for all federal, state, and city guidelines in the past, even being credited for several groundbreaking innovations while doing so in 2020.
Though our haunt layout and building materials were previously approved since our methods are exactly the same as all other haunted attractions, we feel the present city officials are interpreting codes indifferently. We have attempted to address each item of their concern and feel that we have presented a clear solution within the code allowing for us to operate with additional fire safety methods at our own expense. Every submission has been denied with only minimal clarification provided as to why. While we take great pride in our neighborhood, we have regrettably been forced to recognize that we may not be welcome in the Murray community.
Our goal is to achieve 1,000 signatures at this time to present to our city officials. Hopefully it will help them reconsider allowing us to operate under the same fire codes that our neighboring cities enforce. Thank you all for your time and support!"
