Hello!
Thank you for signing up for our mailing list and/or signing the petition to stand up for Davis Square. This list and the petition are growing fast through word of mouth, and we’re just getting started.

Not much has changed since we first heard of the proposal from Copper Mill. They haven’t officially filed plans with the city and haven’t announced the date for another community meeting since the overflow meeting in February. However, we have some important info to keep you in the loop:

1. The Davis Square Neighborhood Council is planning to hold a meeting (or possibly a series of meetings) devoted exclusively to the Copper Mill project. They are still working out the logistics for where and when. As soon as we hear from them about potential dates, we will reach out to our list to get an idea of how many of you would be willing to attend. This will help gauge how big the venue needs to be. The Neighborhood Council wants to hear from the community. This will be your chance.

2. Copper Mill has informed the Davis Square Neighborhood Council that they intend to hold another community meeting sometime between late May and early June. We will be sure to alert you to the where and when for that meeting as well. Copper Mill says they want to hear from the community. This will be your chance.

3. The biggest question we hear from people is: “What can I do to help?” We have two concrete steps you can take:

a.) If you are so inclined, write a letter or email in opposition to this proposal to the following people: Councilor Davis (Ward Councilor), Mayor Ballantyne, Councilor Wilson (City Councilor/Candidate for Mayor), and Councilor Burnley (City Councilor/Candidate for Mayor). Their email addresses are below. Keep it short, to the point, from the heart—and be respectful. These emails and letters will have a big impact.

b.) Meet us at Kenney Park at noon on Saturday, May 10th. We have postcards you can give to your friends. Too many people we speak with think the 25-story tower is already approved. It’s not. You can help us spread the word and keep people informed with these postcards. Our list will grow, the petition will grow, and with that, our voice will grow stronger than it already is.

Our message is simple: Davis Square is amazing. Our culture, our art and music, and our people make it special. We want smart growth for Davis Square—and we want to be part of that process.

Thank you again for standing up for Davis Square!

Your Friends at Davis Square Village
