Hello, Davis Lane Community!

The City of Arvada is starting a second round of community engagement, beginning with a meeting at the Arvada West Library on September 25th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

While it's not yet clear exactly which options will be presented, here are three that the City mentioned in early July:

Summary of Preliminary Options:

1)     Replace the existing courts, but there may be a 3-5 year wait for the sewer warranty to expire. Note: We need clarification on the exact warranty term. The fact that they provided a range suggests they may not have had the specific details at that time.

2)     Build pickleball courts elsewhere in the park.

3)     Build pickleball courts in Oak Park, which is 0.5 miles from Davis Lane.

I should have more information on the options and the warranty term sometime next week. Details on these preliminary options are below.

Please attend the meeting and share your input!

Thank you!

Alan

Detail of Preliminary Options:

1. One option would be to replace the existing courts either with tennis and pickleball or just pickleball courts. As staff have noted before, the challenge with this is the future need of tearing them back up for future repairs/replacements of the sewer line. However, that would probably not occur in the near future. That said, if we went this route, it is possible that the courts would not return for another 3-5 years until after the warranty of the sewer line had concluded.

2. Another option is to place pickleball only courts somewhere else in Davis Lane Park. The other options would be closer to homes and bring noise to those homes that didn't exist before with the courts more removed. This could be done sooner than option 1, however, the access to these courts is very limited, as it was for the previous courts (not good proximity to roads/parking.

3. Option 3 is to build pickleball courts in Oak Park - 0.5 miles away from Davis Lane. These courts would not be as close to homes as they would be in Davis Lane (less of a noise issue), would have much easier public access and greater access to parking.
