Hello, Davis Lane Community!

It’s First Meeting Day, May 2, 2024!   The Davis Lane Community (DLC) met with the City of Arvada engineering staff to discuss a limited agenda, since the city made it clear there will be “no delay in construction, and it will be proceeding according to plan and schedule.”

The meeting covered numerous topics, but the most pressing is the possibility that the northeastern slab of the courts could be saved to preserve a pickleball court in Davis Lane Park while we work on pressing for a new design that would allow full courts to be re-installed in Davis Lane Park and other parts of the city.

Above is a map of the courts with the concept of saving the northeastern slab and panels of fencing on the north and east of it.

We believe that with special attention near the corner the slab could be kept whole. Even if not, only a small corner would be impacted and that out of the area of play.

This is one of those cool cases where doing less of the job would leave more benefit to the community.

Change orders are a nuisance for the city, but we are hopeful that they will grasp the low hanging fruit. Since there will be several change orders on this job anyway, there is a chance, and you increase that chance by being at the city council meeting!

We’re now up to 220 people who have signed the online petition so far to save the courts!

Please be at the City Council meeting on Monday at 6:00 pm in green and blue to support the effort to save our courts.  The entrance is on the upper level near the city courts entrance.

This meeting is shaping up to be critical to keeping at least one court available in the near term. We will work the long-term issue, but let’s Save Our Court! How did we get to this, where the city takes away multiple courts, and we are just begging to save one for now?
