A developer has applied to the federal government to fill in Dartmouth Cove. This would result in the displacement of fish, birds and other wildlife and ruin this part of the Harbour Trail for several years as trucks hauling pyritic slate and quarry rock dump their loads into the harbour.

The resulting moonscape would not be able to be developed, so it’s not for the benefit of the community, but only as a means of getting rid of fill from other construction sites.
