The Issue
   The students of Chula Vista High School(CVHS) are faced with the challenge of the Sweetwater Union High School District's decision to cut our 8 period schedule to a 6 period schedule. This WILL impact all students and staff at Chula Vista High School.

   With this cut, students LOSE the ability to: take more than one elective class or any at all, take AVID, take AP classes, take CTE classes, and participate in the SCPA(School of Creative and Performing Arts). This WILL affect sports-dedicated students, ELD students, AP students, SCPA major students, students with IEPs, and every kid and adult on campus. Because of this cut, our school WILL lose many electives and AP classes. These classes, teachers, and the 8 period schedule is so meaningful to both students and teachers of CVHS because this schedule allows students to have more opportunities and have more experiences other schools do not provide. This decision will ultimately take our SCPA program away, which is a huge staple of CVHS and its students.

   A letter was sent to the community by the principal stating that next school year would have a 6-period schedule- when was input from students collected? IT IS URGENT! THE TIME IS NOW to send individual emails to each SUHSD board member discussing as to why the 8 period schedule is beneficial to you. We CANNOT let our Superintendent continue on with this decision. SAVE CVHS and SCPA, KEEP OUR 8 PERIODS!
