Save Cromwell Park and it’s Wildlife!!! Keep our green space alive!

The Issue

Cromwell Park, located along the Black River in Lorain, is home to numerous species of wildlife including over 120 different species of birds. To date, over $14 million in grant funds have been awarded to the City and the County to restore habitat along the river and now that wildlife is thriving, they want to use 400 acres for a motor sports park that will relocate all wildlife. Flocks of hundreds of cormorants have been observed at this location. This is not only a nesting spot, but the space acts as a resting spot for birds during migration. This space is one of the few green-spaces left in Lorain that needs to be protected. Residents are able to enjoy the nature while it provides as a resource for birds like the Great Blue Herons that nest in the area as a very large group. A motor sports park will devastate the wildlife in the area and contribute to over an 80% decline in the population of birds in Northeast Ohio. Save this space by opposing the development of Cromwell Park for a motor sports race track and eliminate the environmental injustice that it will create to the residents of Lorain. Act now before it’s too late and we lose the only space in the area for natural habitat.
I grew up in these woods along with many other residents here. I still use the land today to walk in the woods and enjoy the wildlife and I see many other residents still going here to exercise on the trails or throw the ball for their dogs. It provides that green space that we no longer have in the area and to sell 400 acres to develop a motor sports park is injustice for the residents and wildlife. Please, help keep this area natural.
