The Issue

Sunda pangolins have been spotted at the Maju Forest which had been earmarked for development. Sunda pangolins are critically endangered. Due to them being rare in numbers and shy there’s insufficient surveys about the state of wild pangolins in Singapore. The reproductive rates of pangolins are also very low, with the Mandai wildlife reserve pangolin only producing an offspring after 10 years (https://youtu.be/ehZbNXAnOXU?is=GzRsXLYfQK5wLr1q).

Deforestation will likely result in the deaths and potential extinction of pangolins and other endangered species found in the Maju Forest. Bro did nothing wrong, Save our forest homies.

Call to Action:

  1. Pause plans for development and seriously review the extent of wildlife diversity in Maju forest.
  2. If development is still deemed necessary, ensure that all rare species in the Maju forest do not go extinct by carefully relocating the animal and plant species.
