Crema Cafe is a landmark in Harvard Square. It has been forced to close, due in large part to its rent tripling. The landlord, Asana Partners, has claimed that their potential new tenant, an out-of-state coffee chain, will pay triple the rent. With 25% of Harvard Square storefronts being vacant, why kick out Crema? 

Crema is beloved part of the community--always busy--that contributes to the heart and soul of Harvard Square. It is one of few remaining independent, local businesses, and it is worth saving. 

We must stand behind Crema in seeking reasonable leasing terms in Harvard Square. We request that Asana Properties allow Crema to stay in their current location, and that the competition focus on their own product and service rather than pushing out competition.
