I understand getting people to sign is not easy.  Mostly because there aren't a lot of people passionate about their morning news, but it seems as soon as CNN was getting closer to getting the morning show where it needed to be that they pulled the plug on Poppy and Phil who made a good team, while Phil also did an exceptional job with the moderation on the panel discussions.

The parts that were wrong with the morning show were less push back against both Republicans and Democrats.  This is a problem on CNN as a whole.  There seems to be a belief in "bothsidesism" when sometimes there is no "both sides" on an issue.  When either side of the aisle does not answer straight forward or is stating "alternative facts" then they should be allowed to pushback and pushback hard, even if the Representative or Senator doesn't take a future invite.  My opinion is that the Progressive voices can generally win any argument, but if they get something wrong, then let us know why it's wrong.

Phil seems to really have a strong investment in the minutia of the budget and government shutdown, but was never really allotted time for a deep dive.  I don't think most people watching will immediately change the channel, because it's not "entertaining" enough.  Those of us that watch on a regular basis generally take politics more seriously than the average person, so I don't know what audience they think they are capturing by watering down the coverage.
