Save Clovelly's Burrows Park from overdevelopment: Demand Council transparency

Save Clovelly's Burrows Park from overdevelopment: Demand Council transparency
The issue
Clovelly's Burrows Park is a magnificent, undeveloped headland on Sydney's famous Coastal Walk with remnant coastal bushland habitat for native birds and animals, and the views across the park to the ocean are enjoyed by hundreds of locals, visitors and tourists walking by every single day.
A simple, single playing field sits within this picture-perfect beauty.
Concerned members of the Clovelly community, Friends of Burrows Park, are apprehensive that Randwick Council has spent more than $450,000 on consultants to investigate major redevelopment of the field to significantly increase its width and length and replace the existing building with a much larger structure.
Overdevelopment will ruin the natural beauty of Burrows Park and Clovelly beach. We want to preserve this special place for everyone, for generations to come.
After 50 years of the Clovelly community working hand-in-hand with sports clubs, Friends of Burrows Park is supportive of a new amenities block and improvements to make the ground better for kids’ sport, as many of us have kids who've played on the field.
However, the current usage schedule for the field is already at capacity with junior teams, so we’re concerned that increasing the size of the field for use by adult teams will compete with junior times, and/or increased the usage of the field outside the current hours and later into the night.
With council allocating such a large scoping budget, residents are duly concerned that once the money has been spent, it could be too late to stop it.
