As we inch closer to the end of this academic year, the reality of Clifton Middle School's closure is becoming clearer.

After the recent (5/8) Alleghany Highlands School Board Meeting, it is clear the board members have a very different idea of their responsibilities to the community they serve and; most importantly, to the students of the Alleghany Highlands. While the local governments and taxpayers are crucial to education, the educational needs of the students should always come first. On that, we clearly disagree.
