The Issue

On December 14, the Town of Cicero intends to outlaw "short term rentals" in Cicero, including houses on Oneida Lake.

This new law--buried deep in the deceptively-named "Section 3 of Local Law #5"--will mean property owners will be in violation of law if they rent their property to guests for stays shorter than 30 days. Section 3 will also allow the Town of Cicero to subpoena Airbnb for all rental records, private owner information, and shut down our rentals for violating the code under the new definition of “short term rentals.” In fact, at the Nov. 9 Town Council meeting, the Town promised to do just that!

Not only is this an aggressive and disproportionate response to law abiding businesses, it is a violation of our privacy and property rights. People have been renting their homes on Oneida Lake forever.

Sign your name to tell Cicero "NO" to this change and preserve the right to rent vacation homes on Oneida Lake.
