Save Chickasaw Trace from Landfill Expansion!

This petition had 1,267 supporters

Chickasaw Trace in Columbia TN, is a seasoned 8.3 miles of nuanced single track that delivers some challenges but appeals to all skill levels of Mountain Bikers. Many in the MTB Community know it from the TBRA races, NICA races, or the Jailbreak Triathlon. This Trail hosts HUNDREDS of racers

If you've had the opportunity to shred this gem, you have probably noticed that it shares the property with a landfill. Due to Chickasaw's co-op with this disposal, the trail and Columbia Cycling Club are faced with an obstacle. Unfortunately, Chickasaw is at risk of losing a large portion to the landfill. They are attempting to bulldoze the entire Trail of Tears portion of the trail. This would remove a large middle section of trail. Rejoining it would be very difficult and it would take months, if not years, to complete. And if you are familiar with the trail, you are aware that this is one of the best sections.

In efforts to contest this conundrum CCC is asking for some support.

2nd) COME TO THE MEETING: There is a meeting at the courthouse in Columbia, Monday, May 1 at 4:30 PM to deliberate the issue (Property Assessor's Office). There will be some SORBAmidTN leadership there as well as Columbia Cycling Club leadership present to make an argument. If you are one of those people, like myself, that holds this trail close to your heart, your presence is welcomed.

3rd) WRITE A REVIEW: If you look up Columbia TN on Trip Advisor, and click on Things To Do, Chickasaw Trace Park is rated the 2nd best thing behind visiting the Polk Home. This is based on 11 persons who have rated it(now 61..THANK YOU!). It would be beneficial to Chickasaw to make this more significant and add to those numbers. This rating might help save the trail from being converted to a trash pile.

Thanks for your help!
