In 2023 Australians lost 1 billion dollars to card theft alone – and that’s only the reported losses.    And I read in the card theft statistics that most victims of card theft have no idea where their card details were intercepted.

These facts emphasise the need to keep electronic transactions to an absolute minimum – if any at all.    And certainly, it emphasises the need to use cheques for large or remote transactions, and transactions associated with accounts containing substantial sums of money.
