With voting in the council elections now open Save Chamberlain Park (SCP) surveyed both front runners for mayor – Phil Goff and John Tamihere – as to their respective views on the future of this recreational facility that has been a public golf course for 80 years. Whilst the outcome of the local board elections will have a bearing on the future of the park, the mayor will also play a pivotal role as well.

Here is what Phil Goff said:
"I uphold the right of the local board representing the local community to determine the configuration of Chamberlain Park."
