Council's golf facility discussion document states "There was a compelling case for change (reducing Chamberlain Park from an 18 hole to a 9 hole course) based on: 1. A steady decrease in the number of rounds played. THE FACTS: Yes, use of Chamberlain dropped from 80,000 in the 1990's to 50,000 now because private courses in Auckland started to allow non-members to play. However, at 50,000 rounds per year, Chamberlain Park is still the second most popular course in Auckland (after Takapuna - the only other public course in Auckland).
