Save Central Park Bandar Utama Off-Leash Zone

The Issue

The off-leash zone at Central Park Bandar Utama, a beloved space for many dog owners and their canine companions, is facing demolition. Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ) has ordered that the fenced-in area be emptied, torn down, and removed by 21 October 2025, leaving many park users feeling distraught and concerned about the future of this invaluable community asset.

For years, this facility has been a rare and precious gem in Petaling Jaya, offering a unique space where dogs can run and play freely while ensuring the safety and enjoyment of other park users. Properly gated and fenced, it serves not only as a sanctuary for dogs but as a venue for residents and visitors to bond and enjoy the outdoors together.

The importance of such spaces cannot be overstated. They encourage community interaction, promote healthier lifestyles for both pets and owners, and provide an outlet for dogs' natural instincts to run and play in a safe environment. In densely populated urban areas like Bandar Utama, green spaces that welcome and cater to the needs of dog owners are indispensable.

Demolishing this off-leash area without providing an alternative would undoubtedly reduce the quality of life for many in our community. We believe that a solution can be found that satisfies both the regulations of MBPJ and the needs of local residents and their pets. We urge MBPJ to reconsider their directive and work with us to preserve this cherished space.
