I don’t really know how to start
The Horse Sanctuary was this week contacted by a Director of Griggs, a local developer that has previously re developed several local horse stables for luxury housing. This had been very contentious in the local area so a contact from them offering a solution was very welcome.
Whilst welcome the land offered was already home to horses. We then found out that Cecil’s moving to the land would mean these horses would be kicked off as the land has for 30+ years been home to horses at Strangeway’s Stables.
it is only a very short time since Strangeways itself was itself under threat of much of its land being redeveloped.
Creating another desperate horse situation.
It is also sad that The Strangeways liveries contributed greatly to the Cecil’s sanctuary go fund me and took part in mass sharing of this petition to help the sanctuary only to find their ponies under threat.
Why would a developer have such an interest in this, it may well have been a good hearted gesture. It certainly bought a great deal of upset to both stables as one saw a solution albeit temporary and the other great shock and disappointment.
This is a quote off Griggs web page
“Our experienced team is skilled in navigating the planning system for the release of Green Belt land which can be achieved by demonstrating Very Special Circumstances.”
I couldn’t possibly say the two are connected, A local Hertsmere Borough Councillor has been trying to persuade the sanctuary to take the offer. she is well I understand acquainted with the developer as she sells their luxury homes in her estate agency.
