Should I have trusted the developer? It’s a No!
It’s over a month ago that I had a lengthy conversation with a senior member of Retirement Village Group. It sounded productive and I was told I would be updated in a couple of weeks once my suggestions to the developer had been discussed. I asked that Retirement Village Group pay for 10 years rent instead of 5 years as the land the charity were being forced onto is much more expensive and it’s unlikely the charity could afford it after the five years leaving them once again homeless. This would take their offer from 50 k to 100k Due to the ongoing testing on behalf of the developer on the sanctuary paddocks visitor days had had to stop and so this had severely impacted donations. I asked that the company pay for the required fencing, as we all know a paddock without any fencing is merely a field whilst they did offer an additional 7.5k for this that was it.
When I finally spoke to the senior member at Retirement Village Grouo this week, I was told that he was going to update me after the lease was signed. It then became clear the positive phone call was merely to get this petition to go away. I asked why I wasn’t updated after a couple of weeks as agreed the response was a sarcastic “I owe you nothing” .
The situation today is Cecil’s are still being forced out, Heineken/star pubs who own n the land are it seems intending court action for unpaid rent, even though most of the paddocks were unusable and the charity had had to stop visitors. It seems another way to force the charity of land that they want to sell for development.
I now see the positive phone call was a manipulative attempt to kill this petition. Who could of thought it would reach over 85k let’s please push it over a 100 k, let then the national media are I am told much more likely to pick up the story, these ponies need all the help they can get to help them live out their final days in peace.
