Save CBC Rowing
The issue
CBC Rowing is more than a sport. It is a lifeline, a community, a tradition, and a place of belonging for boys who cannot find it anywhere else. Rowing at CBC teaches resilience, discipline, teamwork, and focus in ways no other program can. As one student wrote, “Rowing keeps me focused and on track. My grades are consistently better, and it keeps my ADHD in check.”
For over 100 years, CBC Rowing has offered an inclusive environment where every boy has a seat in the boat, regardless of ability, background, or physical challenges. Many boys came to CBC specifically because rowing was accessible here when it wasn’t anywhere else. Without CBC Rowing, these students have no alternative club system to turn to.
Rowing gives boys confidence, friendships, structure, and purpose. It supports mental health, reduces device dependence, and provides a safe, welcoming space for boys who struggle in traditional team sports. As one Year 8 student shared, “I find other sports overwhelming, but I know I am included in rowing.”
This program builds leaders. It strengthens academic performance. It creates lifelong bonds. It connects generations of CBC families. It reflects CBC’s core values of faith, community, excellence, and compassion. “We are not all the same, but we are all in the same boat.”
Ending CBC Rowing would not just cut a sport. It would cut a community, a culture, and a vital support system for boys who rely on it.
We, the parents, students, alumni, and coaches, ask CBC to honour its tradition, its values, and its boys by saving the rowing program.
Please sign to help protect a program that shapes stronger students, stronger futures, and stronger young men.
No money is needed so please ignore any requests for money.
