As passionate environmentalists who volunteer at the Save the Strays of Samos, we see first-hand the current overpopulation of dogs within the shelter. This request does not just lie in care for nature, but for every life that dwells within it - and Carlitos, the dog adopted by our fellow intern Marta, is no exception. We firmly believe that allowing Carlitos to stay at Archipelagos Marine Institute of Conservation Base during Marta's internship can significantly uplift his wellbeing and ours. This will also provide an opportunity to interns to collaborate in his training, ensuring his safety and fulfillment. Through this process, we aren’t merely offering a temporary home to Carlitos but also forming a better community bond amongst ourselves and reducing the strain on the already overstressed strays' centre.

Studies indicate a clear link between the presence of pets and improved mental health - something that could significantly benefit our hardworking community (Mental Health Foundation, UK, 2018). In return, our interactions can provide a stimulating and safe environment for Carlitos, as we dedicate ourselves to his care. Allowing Carlitos to stay doesn't just have personal dimensions to it, for us, it strengthens our ethos as environmentalists caring for all creatures. His presence will embody our stand and love for all beings, fostering the animal-human bond amongst the community.
