Save Captive Cats

The Issue

Hey Guys!! We are a group of seniors from Columbus Ohio trying to push action towards stopping the transportation and possession of big cats within the U.S, with the exception of rehabilitation concerns. Currently there’s a policy, the Big Cat Policy, allowing certain states to keep big cats. This act allows allows individuals or companies to house these cats for zoos, pets, entertainment purposes, ect… Our goal is to end the owning of big cats in all states, and put an end to the transportation of them.
We would like to see the Captive Wildlife Safety Act being enforced. This makes it illegal to import, export, buy, sell, transport, receive, or acquire big cats across state lines and U.S boarders. By stopping the possession of big cats these animals will no longer be in danger. Many of them face cruel and unfair treatment, and are looked at as “money makers” instead of the animals they really are.
If things do not change the world will continue to see a decrease in these animal’s population, eventually resulting in extinction. An estimated 5,000 tigers are kept captive in the U.S, and only 3,900 live free in the wild. They are also over bread, undernourished, and not kept in proper living conditions. Not only is this an issue for the cats themselves, but by removing key species from a certain habitat the whole ecosystem is disrupted. Please take the time to look into the issue and sign our petition to remove the Big Cat Policy and push the Captive Wildlife Safety Act. Thank you!!
