Save Canada's Ocean Playground from polluting open net pen feedlots!

Save Canada's Ocean Playground from polluting open net pen feedlots!
The Issue
“Canada’s Ocean Playground” is for everyone to enjoy but your government is allowing, even encouraging, industrialized, polluting, feedlots for the profit of private companies.
Open net pens for aquaculture pollute our oceans with fish faeces, fish diseases and parasites, chemicals, broken equipment and visually with ugly infrastructure.
Open net pens threaten many valuable jobs near them; particularly in existing crustacean (lobster) fisheries and tourism.
The very few jobs from open net pens locally are poorly paid and dangerous in inclement weather.
Escapes and diseases from open net pens undermine efforts to restore the Atlantic Salmon to Nova Scotia rivers. The Atlantic Salmon is important to the indigenous community and to local and visiting anglers.
The Nova Scotia provincial government is planning to further relax the regulations for open net pen feedlots, increasing the number of coastal areas at risk.
Tell your political representatives that “Polluting feedlots don’t belong in Canada’s Ocean Playground”.
