The Issue
California’s Great America has just been sold for 310 million dollars. Cedar Fair has sold the park to a real estate company and and I highly doubt they’re going to help with the housing problem in the Bay Area which is already horrible. The park will shut down the park in 11 years or less. Great America has been around since the 70’s. It is the home park of thousands in the Bay Area. Great America is enjoyed by millions each year and to see the park go is heartbreaking. Ultimately we must save the park if possible. Please sign the petition to save Californias Great America from this real estate company. This is also going to effect people that already work at the park and also future workers. Most of the jobs in the Bay Area aren’t wonderful it’s either restaurant based or something else with horrible conditions. Great America has entertained family for more then 40 years. Including me and my family I can only wish something happens to save this beautiful park from shutting down.
Update: Quick recap if you didn’t read the first paragraph CGA or also known as Californias Great America has been sold to a private real estate company for $310 Million dollars. Now for the update. Cedar fair now leases the park from this company their contract with this company lasts 6 years but there is an option for Cedar Fair to extend it for another 5 years if they wish to. But this contract also lets the company end Cedar Fairs contract 2 years early with a warning first so for example. If Cedar runs the park for another 2 years but if Prologis (the company that bought CGA) wishes to finally start doing something with the land they bought (most likely build warehouses for Amazon and build apartments) they can terminate the contract 2 years earlier. Giving CGA only 4 years instead of the 6 years it is given. This also applies if Cedar Fair wishes to pay for the extra 5 Years meaning that if they cut the contract short it would only run for an extra 3 years. As more news is getting out I will keep updating this petition. I thank every single one of y’all for signing my petition we can only hope for Cedar Fair to realize they’ve have made a mistake and to try to negotiate something to get the park back if possible.
