Call to action:
Save Buckshot and Jazz

A now 6 year claim with ICOM for abandoned horses to have them removed permanently under the ownership of Juanita.
Abandoned at 3590 East Sleeper rd/ Taylor intersection- pasture. No food, no shelter,  no ferrier, no vet and zero presence of the owners.

One confirmed case of equine neglect leading to death by starvation in 2024,"Lucky" was left with zero care or nutrition. He was found in a dilapidating barn. A tarp thrown over the deceased horse left for several weeks, found by a neighbor who called island county to make a claim.  Both horses were removed within 24hrs, but then a year later, Buckshot returned to the property with a new horse they've put to pasture and both are completely abandoned. Owners are unreachable.

Now, on their second round of horses, Buckshot is considered the "companion horse" left to be a farewell friend to Jazz who neither have been given food, shelter, ferrier or vet. I can personally count on one hand within the last two years that the owners have come to seebeen on this property that the owners have ever come out to feed them. This is simulataneous to knowledge of more horses on their property,  info provided about a year ago, so there may be more animals effected than just these 2.

They've had zero shelter through the harsh winters and wind. The standard for these animals needs desperate help in raising the quality of life they are allowed to have. This is blatant animal cruelty as neglect falls under this scope.

Support is needed for the Island County ACO and you can help by signing the petition to have horses under this family permanently removed.

Island County needs to hire more units to help their current team as they are overloaded with calls and claims for animals on Whidbey Island.
