Save Buckeye Middle School from Demolition & Closure!
The Issue
Our Story:
For over 60 years, Buckeye Middle School (2950 Parsons Ave.) has been a foundational anchor for South Side families. The recent Board decision to close the facility and move to demolish it tears apart our neighborhood's history, upends student stability, and forces long, burdensome commutes on local families.
While the district cites aging facilities and budget shortfalls, we believe our children deserve localized investment—not displacement. Disproportionately forcing closures onto lower-income communities and communities of color fractures our neighborhood support networks.
We demand that the Columbus City Schools Board of Education halts all demolition planning, reverses the closure of Buckeye Middle School, and fully funds the modernization of our local building. Sign this petition to tell the Board: Our neighborhood matters. Our school matters!
