Save Bright Hotrod Run from closure
The issue
For over 35 years, the Bright Hotrod Run has been more than just a car show; it has been a cherished tradition for our community in Victoria's Alpine region. It brings together car enthusiasts, local businesses, and tourists, all united by a shared love for hotrods, heritage, and community spirit. This event has become an integral part of Bright’s identity, providing not only entertainment but also vital economic support for local businesses as thousands flock to our region each year.
Unfortunately, this beloved event is at risk of coming to an end due to a lack of support from the Alpine Shire Council and insufficient funding from local authorities. Without their backing, the event cannot sustain itself, risking not only the loss of a popular gathering but also a significant negative impact on our local economy. Small businesses, such as restaurants, hotels, and shops, thrive during the event, benefiting from the influx of visitors.
We understand the challenges that local councils face regarding budget and resource allocation, yet it is imperative that they recognize the value that the Bright Hotrod Run brings to our community. According to data from regional tourism authorities, events like the Hotrod Run inject millions into the local economy and play a crucial role in sustaining small towns like Bright.
What we propose is a collaborative solution. By establishing a partnership between the local government, businesses, and community stakeholders, we can create a self-sustaining model for the event. This could involve the introduction of a dedicated committee to oversee planning and funding, seeking corporate sponsorships, and potentially introducing a nominal entry fee to guarantee financial viability without burdening the council's budget.
This is not just about saving an event; it’s about preserving the spirit of Bright. It’s about preventing a piece of our culture from fading away.
Join us in urging the Alpine Shire Council and other local authorities to provide the necessary support to keep the Bright Hotrod Run alive. Sign this petition to let them know that this community event is worth protecting! Please donot leave a donation to this petition as it will not go towards the event
