SAVE BRIDGES ROAD

SAVE BRIDGES ROAD
The Issue
We, the undersigned residents and concerned citizens, strongly oppose the proposed rezoning of 6113 Quiet Country Lane from Residential Rural-Acre (RR-Acre) to Residential Low Density-70 (RLD-70) to allow the construction of 141 housing units.
This development will have a devastating impact on our community, leading to:
Excessive Traffic & Congestion – Bridges Rd and Quiet Country Lane cannot handle the increased traffic, making daily commutes unsafe.
Years of Construction Disruptions – Heavy machinery, noise, road closures, and dust will negatively affect our quality of life.
Possible Road Widening – A major change to our peaceful country road, permanently altering its character.
Decline in Property Values – Increased density and traffic often lead to lower home values.
Loss of Rural & Quiet Lifestyle – This area was designed for peaceful, low-density living, not high-density housing.
Specific Issues with Ordinance 2025-91
The ordinance rezones 22.01 acres at 6113 Quiet Country Lane (between Braddock Rd and Simmons Rd) from RR-Acre to RLD-70.
Owners: John and Angela Schultz. Applicant: Hayden Phillips, Esq. (1301 Riverplace Blvd, Suite 1500, Jacksonville, FL, 32207).
The Land Use and Zoning (LUZ) Committee has already held a public hearing, but City Council has not yet voted.
The ordinance claims this change is consistent with the 2045 Comprehensive Plan, but residents disagree and believe it will harm the community.
We believe this rezoning is inconsistent with the 2045 Comprehensive Plan and does not align with the best interests of current residents. We respectfully urge the Jacksonville City Council and Mayor Donna Deegan to REJECT this rezoning request.
We, the undersigned, demand that this rezoning request be denied.
