Save Bonnett Pet Center

Bonnett Pet Center, which has been in the South Plains Mall in Lubbock Texas for 40 years, is now being forced to close it doors. A pet store in California that was selling puppies from a puppy mill was targeted by the PETA organization. The Macerich Corporation, which owns approximately 70 malls across the nation, including South Plains Mall, decided it was easier to close every pet store in their malls rather than looking individually into each store's operations. Bonnett Pet Center has not and does not sell puppies from puppy mills. Most of Bonnett's puppies and kittens come from private citizens who have had unwanted litters and want to find homes for them versus taking them to the pound to potentially become euthanized. Many of the people that purchase these unwanted pets do not set out to buy them as one would an appliance or grocery item. The purchase of these pets is more of an emotional encounter between the pet and the potential family, which makes the need for the store to be in the mall, with it's foot traffic, crucial . Please help support the effort to keep this store open by signing this petition.
