On Thursday May 12th, 2022, Newtown, CT’s beloved bear Bobbie #217 was shot and killed by an off duty police officer on his property. The result of this senseless killing leaves behind two baby bear cubs. CT’s DEEP has said they are monitoring the cubs and are intent to leave them in a familiar area. Multiple experts have stated they are too young to be alone and have suggested a wildlife rehabber assist. Also, leaving these cubs in an area where their mother was shot leaves them vulnerable to the same treatment. 

By signing this petition we are asking the DEEP to do the right thing and get the cubs to a wildlife rehabber as well as arrest the individual responsible; showing him that just because he is a police officer he is not above the law.
