Hello, all!
First and foremost, we want to thank everyone who took the time to sign and comment on the petition. A major thank you to our supporters across the country and overseas, as well as all of the parents and neighbors who see the intrinsic value in Black Blocks. We never anticipated getting over 2,500 signatures (and growing) in hardly 24 hours, but that doesn't mean we can rest on our laurels; rather, our fight is just beginning.
After a fair bit of research, we've uncovered the plans for an updated Folk Art Park, and yes, designers plan to use skatestoppers to protect the artwork. A quick summary of the project*, as well as the full plans**, can be found at the links below. Unbeknownst to us, these have been in place since November 2015.
Moving forward, our first task is organization. It's important that everyone is on the same page, so there aren't any missteps moving forward. As of this morning, we have plans in place to alert the media (skateboarding and non-skateboarding alike) of our plight, and Matt Creasy is working on a t-shirt design for donations to help assuage some of our overhead costs, a sneak peek of which is included with this message. We've had numerous people reach out to us, willing to help the cause, which is fantastic. Please email us at SaveBlackBlocks@Gmail.com if you're willing to volunteer time, labor, expenses, project ideas, anything you can think of to help.
